Freight Logistics at Centrair

The logistics of Central Japan are changing. An International base of an around-the-clock air freight system.
Central Japan is an economically wealthy region with dynamic movements of freight.
In order to increase the speed and size of that movement, Centrair is working to become an airport that is economically distinguished, convenient, and can serve as an international base of air freight.

Characteristics of Centrair's freight terminal
Centrair’s freight terminal, compared to the previous terminal at Nagoya (Komaki) Airport, has doubled in its capacity to handle freight and is quickly becoming Central Japan’s new logistics base.
  • The new facilities have been arranged with consideration for the flow line of freight, trucks, and people. With a wide frontage freight warehouse, planes can park in front and rapidly load or unload.
  • The freight warehouse handles both import and export freight in the same space, lowering costs and increasing compatibility.
  • Plenty of space has been secured for truck stops in order to eliminate traffic congestion.

1 Shortening Lead Time
  • The airline warehouse is situated directly in front of the apron.
  • Truck stop space has been established in front of the international airline warehouse in order to facilitate the smooth mobility of freight.

2 Reducing Costs
  • Import and export freight can both be handled in the same space, enabling efficient management.
  • Reduction of the extraordinary agency -opening fee is expected to be offered as benefit of special zone for structural reform.

3 Improving Convenience
  • By installing large-scale eaves on the international airline warehouse, considerations for the work environment and prevention of rain leaks are made.
  • Because the international freight area and domestic freight area are adjacent to each other, freight can be easily transported between international and domestic areas.
  • Sufficient GSE(※1) and ULD (※2) storage has been secured.
  • The Aichi Prefecture Enterprise Department Integrated Logistics Sector is adjacent, consolidating a functionally unified logistics base.
  • This will be the first time an integrated bonded area will be applied to a Japanese airport.

4 For Future Advancements
  • The site layout is augmentable and can adapt to increases in demand.
