Expo Memorial Park (Ai-chikyuhaku Kinen Koen) is an enormous park in Nagakute, Aichi prefecture and the place where the World's Fair known as Expo 2005 was held. It was nicknamed Morikoro Park after the two furry mascots of Expo 05 (Morizo & Kiccoro). Since the Expo's long over, a lot of the facilities have been removed, and the property has been turned into a park. It has a variety of sites to see and activities you can do and enjoy as well (it includes an ice skating rink, swimming pool, cycling course, and a big ferris wheel). Currently, the park is celebrating the 32nd National Urban Greenery Fair Aichi, which started September 12 and will last until November 8, 2015. For people who like to go for walks, this park has a wide area that's covered with different flowers, including exhibitions of flower beds from 25 municipalities of Japan and a lot more. And for Ghibli fans out there, you should not miss the recreation of Satsuki and Mei's House from the movie My Neighbor Totoro (Tonari No Totoro). And in addition to that, there's a Ghibli Expo that's held in Morikoro Park as well. There are other events that takes place here almost every week — check out the website for more details. One day is not enough time to see the entire park.
