Myokoen, based in Aichi prefecture, is a local chain of tea stores that offer a unique, complimentary tea service. When you walk into the shop and sit down at the central table, the clerks will offer you a sweet and a cup of high-quality matcha (with flakes of gold leaf in it)! It is best to eat the sweet first, to counter the bitter taste of the tea. The Nagoya locations include an underground store at Nagoya Station, an underground store at Sakae Station, and a street-level store near the intersection of Otsu-dori and Shirakawa-dori in Sakae. You’ll know you’re getting close when you notice the welcoming aroma of green tea.
