Shirakawago

Shirakawa-go, another popular tourist spot, is located between Kanazawa and Takayama. The historic village of Shirakawa-go, with their gassho-zukuri style, is the world heritage site. You can stay a night in one of the gassho-zukuri, which is a historical building made 100 to 200 years ago. The simple, unadorned appearance of the architecture blends into the natural scenery of the mountains, giving us a marvelous view which changes with seasons. The local food may include dishes you have not heard of such as the tsukemono steak (sautéed pickled vegetables mixed with eggs), and dishes made from locally caught river fish.
