Meoto Iwa

Meoto Iwa

Named from the sight of the two large boulders in the Ise Bay situated closely together as if they were a married couple, the "Meoto-iwa" are tied together by a braided rope and serve as a torii, a gateway to a Shinto shrine. Many tourists visit this place to witness the beauty of the sunrise.
