You want to enjoy an historical town atmosphere without the crowd? Then I suggest you to visit Arimatsu-Okehazama! It's a small neighborhood in Nagoya, where time seems to have stopped. As soon as you walk between the old houses you'll feel in Edo era. Apart from traditional houses, there are also several warehouses in which dashi are kept. These are the artistic chariots locals take out for the annual festivals. Some very friendly habitant might show you inside their beautiful house! Surprising how large these can be! Arimatsu is famous for dyeing textile. Take time to visit one of the textile shops as well as the local bakery where delicious bread is made of natural yeast.
★Location: Midori-ku, Nagoya
★Access: Meitetsu line until Arimatsu station, only a 2 minutes’ walk southwards.
