Uji is located in the south of Kyoto, famous for its green tea and matcha (green tea powder). You can find more than 100-year old shops and restaurants that offer matcha icecream and matcha noodles. There are famous temples such as Byodoin Temple, Koshoji Temple, Mampukuji Temple, and Ujigami Shrine. If you check your 10 Yen coin, you will find the Byodoin Phoenix Hall on the coin. Ujigami Shrine and Byodoin Temple are designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Visit Uji, walk along the Uji river and enjoy the beautiful nature of Uji.
