Embark on an adventure with a rental car from Centrair!
From Centrair to the Gifu Prefecture area.
Explore three
cities renowned for their distinctive attractions: take historical town walks, hike
amidst nature, and discover Japan's retro side. End your day's adventure with a relaxing
stay at a hot spring inn.

From Centrair, let's head to Kawara-machi in Gifu City. Dating back to the 16th century as a bustling merchant town, Kawaramachi is lined with shops that preserve its historic charm.
A brief journey from Kawara-machi takes you to the viewing boat pier for cormorant fishing. Cormorant fishing is a traditional method with a history of 1300 years. It is practiced in the Nagara River in Gifu from May to October every year.
Following the cormorant fishing experience, unwind at an inn by the Nagaragawa Onsen, nestled along the riverbank. Soothe your travel weariness in the mystical hot springs, which turn an intriguingly reddish hue when exposed to air.
On the following day, make your way to Gujo Hachiman. Renowned for the Gujo Dance in summer, which is designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, Gujo Hachiman is adorned with beautiful waterways that flow throughout, creating a picturesque townscape year-round.
Nestled halfway up the mountain that hosts the iconic Gujo Hachiman Castle, Hotel Sekisuien is the perfect base for exploring the charms of Gujo Hachiman.
Continue your journey the next day with a scenic drive from
Gujo Hachiman to Gero Onsen along the beautiful national highway.
En route, the
pristine Wara River is one of Japan's leading producers of sweetfish.
Journey through Wara and onward to Kanayama in Gero City, where the labyrinthine Kinkotsu alleys weave narrowly through the area. Discover this enigmatic town, reminiscent of a movie set with its retro charm, best experienced alongside a local guide.
After wandering through Kinkotsu, head to one of Japan's three famous hot springs, Gero Onsen. Unwind at a hot spring inn, indulge in the famed Hida beef, and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the town dotted with souvenir and dessert shops.
Begin your last day at the majestic Gandate Gorge, followed by a hiking tour through the forest to discover hidden waterfalls. Relax at a secluded rest spot where your guide will prepare a hammock and offer you hot coffee.
