SHINHOTAKA ROPEWAY

The Shinhotaka Ropeway, located in the Shinhotaka Onsen area, consists of two sections and four stations. The section that goes to the 2,156-meter-high summit is the only double-decker gondola in Japan, renovated in July 2020, and offers a panoramic view of the 3,000-meter-high Northern Alps. As you ascend to the observatory, you can enjoy the beautiful view of popular climbing courses such as Mt. Yarigatake and Mt. Kasagatake, awarded two stars by the Michelin Green Guide Japon. In winter, a 3-meter high snow corridor appears outside Nishi Hotakaguchi Station in Sengoku Park. It looks like a large labyrinth created by nature and is very enchanting. Visitors can experience the unique fun of winter by taking a leisurely tour through the wall of snow.

OKUHIDA ONSENGO, WINTER STORY (LIGHT SHOW)
IN GIFUA fantastic light show created by ice and snow
The Okuhida Onsengo Winter Story is a romantic lighting show combining hot springs, snow, and ice. Each hot spring resort participates in the show from late December to the end of March. If you like hot springs and a romantic winter atmosphere, you should not miss the Hirayu Otaki Ice Festival at Hirayu Onsen, the Taruma Kanekoori Light Show at Shin-Hirayu Onsen, and the Nakao Kamakura Festival at Shin-Hotaka Onsen.

HIDA TAKAYAMA LIGHT-UP
IN GIFUA quaint town called the Little Kyoto of Hida. During the winter, the city is illuminated in a fantastic way.
The streets of Hida Takayama retain the atmosphere of the Edo period and have the nickname the Little Kyoto of Hida because of its grid-like pattern. The town has easy access to Gero Onsen, Shirakawa-go, Hida Furukawa, the Shin Hotaka Ropeway, Tateyama Kurobe, etc., and attracts many people with its delicious Hida beef and local cuisine, Gohei-mochi. In winter, the town is covered with silvery-white snow, and lit up at night, creating a quiet and romantic atmosphere that is a refreshing change from the bustling daytime atmosphere.

OKUHIDA HOT SPRING VILLAGE

Okuhida Onsengo is the name for five major hot springs: Hirayu Onsen, Fukuchi Onsen, Shin-Hirayu Onsen, Tochio Onsen, and Shin-Hodaka Onsen, each with their origin and characteristics. Hirayu Onsen has the longest history and is in a virgin forest. Fukuchi Onsen is surrounded by mountains with a sense of seclusion. The Kamata River near Tochio Onsen is a sacred place for fishing and draws many fishing enthusiasts. Regardless of which you visit, you can enjoy magnificent views of the Northern Alps. Springwater is abundant, and the number of open-air baths is the most in all of Japan, so tourists can bathe in the great outdoors and enjoy the soothing waters.
