Shirakawago

Shirakawa-go, another popular tourist spot, is located between Kanazawa and Takayama. The historic villages of Shirakawa-go, with their gassho-zukuri style, are a world-famous world heritage site. You can stay the night in one of the gassho-zukuri, which are historical buildings made 100 to 200 years ago. The simple, unadorned appearance of the architecture blends into the natural scenery of the mountains, giving us a marvelous view which changes with each of the four seasons. The local food may include dishes you have not heard of, such as the tsukemono steak (pickled steak), and dishes made from fish from the river.
