Kumamoto is home to Japan's largest active volcano, Mount Aso, which is also one of the largest in the world. You will also find the biggest garden in Japan, Suizenji Jojuen Garden, here as well. Kumamoto Castle, while damaged by an earthquake in 2016, is still a magnificent site.
